Explore our diverse offerings! You can click on any of the images for more information. You desire something 'unique,' and every plasterwork we deliver is just that. As a Hoofddorp-based business, we craft a unique masterpiece of your home based on your preferences, in the style that appeals to you: classical, modern, or timeless. With various plastering techniques, we can achieve almost anything, and we are happy to guide you in making a suitable choice.Smooth Plastering (Smooth)
Pleisterwerk refers to the process of making existing walls and ceilings 'smooth and sleek' using a thin layer of plaster mortar. Once the walls are plastered, you can finish them according to your preferences.
Smooth plastering, also known as smooth plasterwork, achieves a flat and sleek finish on existing walls and ceilings using a thin layer of plaster mortar. The thickness of the plaster layer varies between 1 and 6 millimeters. Thicker finishing layers are referred to as "raapwerk" plastering, where several centimeters are applied to make the wall flat and sleek again.
With smooth plastering, we create a beautifully smooth surface suitable for various finishes such as decorative plaster (spachtelputz), painting, priming, wallpapering, tiles, and more. You have the option to choose the level of smoothness, with even a very smooth finish possible thanks to our experienced plasterers.
Smooth plastering can be applied in different thicknesses, allowing us not only to make your ceiling or wall smooth but also flat and sleek for the perfect placement of your kitchen, bath, and more.
Additionally, smooth plastering has fire-retardant properties; a 1-centimeter layer provides approximately one hour of delay.
We can smoothly and flatly plaster your walls using smooth plastering, achieving the smoothest result with plaster. With restoration plasterer Danny De Ruig, smooth plastering is always genuinely smooth, without streaks or scratches, whether it's walls or ceilings. We always strive for the most beautiful end result.
Textured Plastering
The 'textured' effect is achieved by applying strokes in the applied mortar. This gives the plasterwork an uneven effect, creating a result that looks different from every perspective.
Textured Plastering, also known as textured ceilings, is made from a mineral-bound mortar of silver sand and lime. This is applied to various surfaces, such as plasterboard or concrete.
The "textured" effect is achieved by applying strokes in the applied mortar. This textured effect is well visible in both direct and indirect light. In daylight, a textured ceiling takes on a different appearance due to changing lighting conditions throughout the seasons, making it look slightly different over time. As a result, a textured ceiling is less likely to become monotonous.
However, there are drawbacks associated with textured plastering. Unfortunately, it is challenging to repair in case of damage, and it is more prone to cracks compared to, for example, smooth plastering, as it has an open structure where dirt can easily get into the little holes.
Additionally, it is not recommended for humid spaces due to its susceptibility to mold, especially if it is gypsum-based.
Dec. Mouldings & Ornaments
A decorative moulding can be applied to create both a modern and a classical appearance. Ornaments provide your room with a classic look. Decorative elements are striking and give your room a luxurious feel.
Beautiful mouldings truly make a difference and lend your home a sense of luxury. For every application, suitable mouldings are available, ranging from gypsum to plastic. Whether for your wall, ceiling, or elsewhere, there is always an elegant moulding that suits your taste. This adds significant value to your home and truly makes a difference, especially in a 1930s house where it should not be missing.
What are ornaments?
Ornaments are made from model plaster, a pure and hard type of plaster cast into molds with a reinforcement of fiberglass or hemp rope.
We can obtain ornaments for you and show you the possibilities available on the market using a sample book. This allows you to distinguish your ceiling from others and choose your own design that suits you.
While most ornaments are now machine-made and available in various styles, Restoration Plasterer Danny De Ruig also offers custom work. We can even reproduce or restore existing ornaments.
Below are a few examples. Of course, there are many more ornaments, but unfortunately, we cannot show them all here. You can also purchase them yourself, and we have multiple addresses where you can buy them.
Cement Mortar
Cement mortar is also water-resistant. What makes cement mortar unique is that many colors can be applied, and it can vary from smooth plastering to the 'textured' technique. With cement mortar, you have a wide range of possibilities to create something unique.
Cement Mortar Plastering
Suitable for damp spaces due to its mold resistance!
Commonly used in bathrooms, exterior facades, sheds, basements, and more.
Excellent moisture resistance and significantly harder than regular plaster. Cement mortar is available in various types and colors, from textured plastering to smooth plastering, and from white to black.
Personal Experience: I have applied cement mortar in my own home and garden, including the installation of wall heating, making a traditional radiator unnecessary. The use of cement mortar requires more time, and the materials are more expensive, resulting in a higher price compared to traditional gypsum plastering. Some bags can even cost up to 70 euros each.
We offer a 5-year warranty for indoor cement mortar plastering and a 3-year warranty for outdoor applications.
Water Damage
Any form of moisture in the home should be taken seriously. Peeling plaster, mold growth, rotting baseboards are just a few examples of the visible consequences of moisture problems in the house.
Water Damage to Plastering
- Caused by, for example, rising damp
- Caused by, for example, penetrating damp
- Caused by, for example, water damage or leakage
Has your plastering detached due to water damage?
In case of water damage to plastering, we handle all matters with your insurance.
Any form of moisture in the home should be taken seriously because even the smallest symptom is often a warning of more severe and complex moisture problems. Visible consequences of moisture problems in the home may include peeling plaster, mold growth, and rotting baseboards.
Restoration Plasterer Danny De Ruig understands how to deal with this and knows what it takes to make a wall or ceiling smooth again. Often, you won't see any traces of the water damage within a day.
Additionally, there are also consequences of air pollution and health problems due to mold. The main consequences include:
- Peeling of the plastering
- Mold in the plastering
Mold forms a moisture problem that spreads quickly in damp and poorly ventilated environments such as basements and bathrooms. This moisture problem poses a significant risk to your property and your health.
We have the right materials to minimize this and usually have an effective solution ready.
High-Gloss Stucco
High-gloss stucco is also known as 'marble plaster or Italian polished marble stucco.' Marble plaster is an extremely smooth finishing layer that makes walls appear as if they are real marble. Marble plaster can be applied in a wide variety of colors.
High-Gloss Stucco
High-gloss stucco, also known as marble plaster or Italian polished marble stucco, is a thin, highly smooth (even reflective) finishing layer for walls that gives the impression of real marble.
This decorative plaster is excellent water-resistant and easy to clean, thanks to the final finish that is water-repellent and splash-resistant.
High-gloss stucco is available in a wide range of colors, and it's even possible to choose combinations of multiple colors, which is ideal for, for example, a shop interior.
With a maximum thickness of only 1 millimeter, marble plaster requires an extremely flat surface. Treating a single wall with marble stucco can instantly give your office or any other space a significantly more exclusive appearance.
The application of marble plaster involves four stages:
- A fixative layer
- A base layer
- Two effect layers
Polishing the effect layer
These operations take approximately three days for careful and durable finishing.
Spachtelputz
Spachtelputz also has a textured effect. The mixture consists of crushed marble granules and a binder (glue). The granules are available in various sizes, and it is possible to apply different colors to the mixture.
Spachtelputz / Spachtelpoets: What is it?
Spachtelpoets can be applied in any desired color and also in different thicknesses, which you can determine yourself. Spachtelputz is a synthetic decorative plaster for walls. It consists of 80% white crushed marble granules and 20% binders (glue). Spachtelputz can be applied in thicknesses ranging from 1 to 4 millimeters, and the marble granules come in various sizes.
Furthermore, Spachtelputz can be applied in almost any desired color. Only natural pigments are used for coloring. The most commonly used colors are white and extra white (for colorfastness on older walls). Due to its high-quality material, Spachtelputz can also be used on exterior walls. For example, terrace walls and panels of exterior wall insulation can be finished with Spachtelputz.
Spachtelputz / Spachtelpoets is highly durable and much harder than gypsum walls.
With Spachtelputz, you have the freedom to choose the texture and color, allowing plasterers to make your walls perfectly 'fit' with the rest of your interior. Another advantage of Spachtelputz is its durability. You don't have to worry about your wall decoration being damaged, for example, by bumps. All of this makes Spachtelputz an ideal wall decoration. However, applying Spachtelputz is labor-intensive work and must be done professionally for optimal results.
Betonlook
Betonlook is the latest technique in the field of plastering. It is a substitute for tiles because it is water-resistant. Betonlook is often applied in kitchens and bathrooms, providing a very exclusive and unique appearance.
Beton Cire (Betonlook)
Beton Cire is also known as Betonlook.
Restoration plasterer Danny De Ruig specializes in unique plastering techniques, including Beton Cire and Betonlook Beal.
Betonlook creates a distinctive effect in your home and is anything but standard!
You won't come across Beton Cire, especially in the color tint Betonlook, very often. It is a waterproof and scratch-resistant material, commonly used in bathrooms, kitchens, or toilets.
The prices for Beton Cire range between €125 and €150 per square meter, inclusive of materials and the Beton Cire itself.
One of the popular colors for Beton Cire is Betonlook, but you can choose from many other colors as well.
Betonlook, the latest in plastering, is highly resistant to moisture and is often used in bathrooms.
Betonlook is applied with a small trowel with rounded corners for a seamless result.
It's also a great idea to create one wall in a room with Betonlook to add a unique atmosphere to your home.
Betonlook can withstand water well, making it a popular alternative to tiles in wet areas.
Originally from France, Betonlook is a type of concrete plaster. After drying and finishing, the cement mortar becomes a stonelike plaster: Beton Cire. With its unique composition and various possibilities, it's an ideal product for any room in your home.
If you're curious about this beautiful and unique decorative plastering technique, visit our showroom to see different types of Betonlook. You can also see various color samples and panels to understand how this unique Betonlook appears.
Feel free to call us to schedule a showroom appointment at Jacobus Spijkerdreef 208 in Hoofddorp.
Betonlook is also available in multiple colors, including light and dark shades of gray or brown, etc.

Restoration
Restoration is a specialty of De Ruig Stucadoors.
We specialize in restoring ceilings, walls, and classical decorations, primarily in historic buildings. Our restoration services include ornaments, rosettes, wainscoting, moldings, fireplaces, columns, and much more. During restoration, we also perform repairs such as cracks in the ceiling and detached plasterwork.
An additional specialty is our ability to deliver production work. This involves the exact replication of existing parts such as moldings, ornaments, and other decorative elements. This is useful if parts are damaged or lost.
If you have existing (historical) plasterwork with damages, it's often possible to restore it. Creating exact replicas of (parts of) moldings, ornaments, and arches is a specialty of De Ruig Stucadoors. When restoring your plasterwork, you can choose to preserve as much original material as possible or opt for an entirely new plasterwork that is an exact copy of the original.
In the first option, color differences are practically unavoidable; precisely matching the color of repaired plasterwork to that of the original is a nearly impossible task. Therefore, painting historical plaster parts and plasterwork is usually the only choice.
The option of entirely copying old moldings brings the additional advantage, besides preventing color differences, that a copy is better resistant to cracking, partly due to the use of modern, flexible mortars for attachment.
